Heterogeneous Database Replication

Data availability and maintenance are primary considerations when you're developing distributed applications. To meet the distributed data availability requirement it is always advisable to use a portable database / data store on the client system. Typically, the client system will require a lightweight database as a result of limited resources. Using different databases to address these concerns can result in problems with data replication between heterogeneous databases.

Organizations need the flexibility to integrate different systems, and the ability to cross-populate and continually synchronize their back-end data repositories. Daffodil Replicator is certainly an appropriate solution in such a situation. Daffodil Replicator provides high-performance data replication between heterogeneous or homogeneous database systems. It is different from other replicator products because it can replicate data between multiple database systems, specifically enterprise relational databases that supports JDBC drivers, Triggers and Stored Procedures. Daffodil Replicator makes data replication possible for applications that use several DBMS products without compromising performance or functionality. It also supports multiple operating systems including Windows, Solaris, Linux and UNIX. As a result, Daffodil Replicator ensures the freedom to choose the most suitable database for each component of the architecture.

Replicator provides comprehensive solutions for bi-directional and peer-to-peer replication of databases. Heterogeneous database replication solution distributes and centralizes data management across multiple sites, geographic locations, or systems. Replicator enables all applications supporting data to be deployed to local desktops and servers. This feature minimizes the load on network resources, requiring only occasional connectivity to communicate changes to other systems in the replication architecture.

Daffodil Replicator performs heterogeneous database replication based on the 'Publish and Subscribe' model (in client and server architecture). A publication is a collection of one or more tables required for data replication. A subscription is a copy of tables involved in publication on client side. Publisher and Subscriber are defined on existing database servers using Replicator GUI. Replicator is compatible with widely used enterprise and small footprint databases:
